THE RED NOTEBOOKS
Neos Kosmos Theatre February 2020 DIRECTION | ORIGINAL TEXT : Eleana Georgouli THE RED NOTEBOOKS is a theatre performance of a new original play I created based on the true story of my grandmother, Vasso Strofilla, resistance fighter during the German Occupation and ELAS Member. The play brings to life the Odyssey of young Vasso: her recruitment in the anti-fascistic struggle during the 2ndWorld War, her meeting with the love of her life and ELAS partisan Yiannis, the murder of her sister, her journey to illegality and imprisonment until her release in 1953. For the creation of THE RED NOTEBOOKSI conducted a research that took more than three years, based on the extended file my grandmother, Vasso Strofila, held. I drew upon a variety of sources: newspapers of the time, personal journals, state documents, photo albums and interview material from partisans of ELAS, woman prisoners of Averof Prisons, family members, following the methodology and the aesthetic code of documentary theater and theater of fact CREDITS original Text / direction: Eleana Georgouli scenic composition consultant: Aleksandra Kazazou assistant director: Maria Floratou Lightning Design: Cristina Thanasoula Set Design: George Trikaliotis Costumes: Rania Riga / Margarita Dosoula trailler: Alexis Zafeirakis WITH: Andreas Kontopoulos, Nancy Boukli, Yannis Filias, Eleana Georgouli |
